Born on 12 April, 1900 at Yasnaya Polyana, died on 29 July, 1957 in Malakhovka near Moscow. Buried in Kochaki cemetery.
First marriage on 19 October, 1921 to Sergei Mikhailovich Sukhotin (born on 18 February, 1887, died on 4 June, 1926 in Paris).
Second marriage in July 1925 to Sergei Alexandrovich Yesenin (born on 21 September, 1895, died on 28 December, 1925 in Leningrad. Buried in Vagan-kovskoye Cemetery).
Third marriage in 1948 to Alexander Dmitrie-vich Timrot (born on 30 September, 1915). Divorced in 1957.
From 1928 onwards Sofia Andreyevna Tolstaya-Yesenina was closely connected with the Tolstoy museums, of which she was director from 1941 to 1957. She did a great deal of work to restore Yasnaya Polyana after the German occupation.
